- Dennis Kotelko is an emerging artist who began oil painting a couple of years ago, while recovering from a traumatic brain injury. He enjoys painting colorful faces, scenes with people, and old world places. "My painting is often inspired by music and lyrics, especially that of Christian music artists" ..."as a beginner, I am developing a free style using bold colors, graphic shapes and distinct outlining... I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, Kathi and four incredible kids. Prior to my brain injury I was a busy anesthesiologist for over 30 years, but God gave me a wake-up call, a second chance, and now I want to give back through my painting."
Hi Dennis, I found you in a round-about way, Saundra Lane Galloway mentioned the Daily Painters of Colorado and I saw your painting there. I am also in "The Second Verse of My Song" after a 35 year career as a Nuclear Med Tech. It was terribly hard for me to give-up who I thought I was, but art has been my salvation. I love painting in challenges, but don't consider myself an artist. I just paint. I am so glad to meet you and can't wait to see what you will do this year. "Rip in my Jeans" is both a good painting and a great topic. You will go far!
